Introducing Smitty’s Knock Out Punch!
An Engineered Wood Ceiling and Floor Truss Hole Punch
Smitty’s K.O. Punch is the only tool that will efficiently fix the problems that contractors are having with making holes in engineered wood I-beams. The K.O. Punch is also the only unit with a self cleaning head and does not require a ladder to reach most ceilings. The tool is not just for engineered wood trusses or joists! Smitty’s Tool Company also has a smaller punch assembly with a self cleaning metal punch die for horizontal holes in metal framing studs.
What is the K.O. Punch?
An Easy-to-Use, Ergonomic Ramped Cam Tool that Packs a Punch
Smitty’s K.O. Punch is a different, more powerful way of creating the holes necessary for running electrical, plumbing or other trade materials through engineered wood ceiling, floor trusses and joists. Instead of drilling or sawing holes, it punches holes through a unique and masterfully designed ramped cam, self-cleaning punch head that creates ½”, ¾”, 1″, 1¼” or 1⅜” holes. The die can changed quickly by slipping the desired size into the head. The tool’s unique use of fulcrums creates an astounding and unstoppable 1 to 132 pound force ratio with 1,500 pounds of pulling force.
K.O. Punch Features
A Quick, Dependable and Portable Solution
- Five Steel Dies Available
Standard system punches a 1-⅜” hole. Optional dies are available for ½”, ¾”, 1″, 1-¼” and 1-⅜” holes. The 1-⅜” size was selected to match the plumbers’ bracket straps outer diameter.
The K.O. Punch features an aluminum body with high strength steel head for roller bearings on a ramped cam.
The K.O. Punch is ergonomically balanced in a vertical position so that moving the punch from one hole to the next is simple and easy. Self supporting once placed onto the truss.
Unstoppable 1 to 132 pound force ratio (30 pounds of force applied to the handle creates 3,960 pounds of driving force at the cutting head) and 1,500 pounds of pulling force.
The K.O. Punch goes from cutting trusses to cutting floor joists with a simple flip of the punch.
Operators no longer need a ladder to punch holes in overhead joists. The K.O. Punch’s aluminum handle is 52″ long from end to punch head and can easily reach 10′ ceilings.
